Italian Chef BLINDFOLDED PASTA SAUCE Taste Test
A pasta sauce makes pasta complete-it’s the soul of pasta. Our Blindfolded Pasta Sauce Taste Test takes your experience to the next level, allowing you to enjoy every bite to the fullest.
When visiting a supermarket or even your local grocer, you’ll often find shelves lined with various tomato pasta sauce options and it can be tricky to decipher which one might be best. Over the years I have tasted quite a few different ones, only to find that a select few are great quality, while others can ruin your meal!
Thanks to endless feedback from my awesome audience, I’m trying something unique today. In some instances, you might think I’m influenced by the brand I am using because Iike anyone, I have preferences. So today, I’m blindfolded and will try selected pasta sauces without knowing what brand I am tasting.
I’ll first smell them, then taste them with a spoon, and finally, try them with pasta. Then, I will tell you which one I like the most and which I like the least.
This turned out to be a pretty awesome experience and was surprising to say the least! It’s a pure experience and the first impression of tasting pasta sauces. I’ve never eaten with a blindfold before, have you?

I don't get why European chefs are so afraid of using MSG. MSG is naturally in Parmesan or other cheese and also naturally in tomatoes, for example. Instead of pure salt, I use about 2/3s Salt and 1/3 MSG. If you make noodles yourself you can also add some MSG to the eggs. I have an eating disorder since my childhood and often don't eat anything. If I cook it myself however and add enough MSG I can eat and even enjoy it. The German guy is or was a TV show cook in Germany for many years, and I always thought he talked too much. He is also a bit overconfident without having all the skills to back it up. Grüße aus Deutschland.

Cappuccino is Italian only in its name. That drink is originally Austrian/Hungarian. The first cities you were able to drink a Kapuciner (yes, that is its original name, means the same by the way): Wien, Budapest, Bratislava. The three most important cities in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Cappuccino is almost a century younger than Kapuciner. Coffee as a whole brought to Europe by the Ottomans. So the European coffee culture started in the Balkans and Hungary.

I told him about some of the biggest mistakes 8 months ago. 😁 „So Nelson, you've never made anything as delicious as my Ragù Bolognese. It's not without reason that I stick to the original. It simply couldn't be better. Herbs have no place in a ragù Bolognese. Just salt and pepper. Soffritto is not enough, the pancetta is missing, because that's where the flavor comes from. Ragù Bolognese impresses with its simplicity and the taste is at its best. Everything that Nelson has added unnecessarily distorts the taste. It doesn't need overcooked Parmesan either, freshly sprinkled over it after serving is much better. And the cooking time is far too short. It has to simmer for several hours, otherwise your taste buds will fall asleep. You can stick to the original recipe from the Accademia Italiana Della Cucina, it simply doesn't get any better than this. THIS is a Ragù Bolognese and tastes completely different to Nelson's pasta sauce, which bears no resemblance to the original recipe. Herbs in ragù is like cream in carbonara, just plain wrong.“
